An eighteen-year-old second-year student of the Methodist Senior High Senior School in Sekondi is in the grip of the police for allegedly stabbing her 19-year-old boyfriend to death.

The deceased, Emmanuel Asante, is said to be a second-year building and construction student at the Takoradi Technical Institute.

According to the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Adiku, on November 18, at Fijai a suburb of Takoradi, a misunderstanding ensued between the suspect and the deceased which resulted in a fight of which they were separated by bystanders.

She said after the separation, the suspect picked the deceased footwear and left to her sister’s store, the deceased later followed up to collect his footwear.

ASP Adiku said in the process the deceased allegedly slapped the suspect and she in turn picked a knife in the store and stabbed him at the back close to his ribs.

ASP Adiku said the deceased was rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for treatment but he died shortly on arrival.

She said the body has since been deposited at the morgue of the facility awaiting autopsy.
