It sounds like a prank from “What Would You Do?”, but no TV cameras were waiting in the bushes for this one.

A Hingham woman found a Citizens Bank envelope in a parking lot Saturday, police said. It was stuffed with paper cut to be the size of cash and it was labeled “$5,500.00.”

Police are praising the woman for bringing the envelope to their headquarters, where officers opened it. They said it contained the scraps of newspaper and a note saying the envelope was a prank.

“She didn't know it was a prank and did the right thing,” police said. “It's always refreshing to see honest people. We know there are so many more honest people than dishonest ones, but in our line of work, we don't usually meet them.”
