Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed that Kwesi Appiah has been tasked to win trophies during his two-year tenure. This means Appiah must summon every tact and wit to win the 2018 CHAN tournament and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2009.

He is making a return to the job he left three years ago after leading the Black Stars to the semi-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 52-year-old made history by qualifying and handling the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup where the team exited the first round.

''We want the Black Stars to win trophies, so ultimately we the Executive Committee and whoever will be given the mantle - as with Kwesi Appiah - is to ensure that we win trophies. That is; the Africa Cup, the World Cup and so on,'' Nyantakyi said.

''[Qualifying for the World Cup] is not an impossibility. When we sit down we will discuss the bench mark that we want him [Kwesi Appiah] to achieve. And one of them is not qualify us to the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations [FIFA World Cup].

''It is not far from being achieved. It is there are any impediments or challenges, we will discuss them and see how we can surmount them.''
