‘My kids nearly lost their mum – I want you to see what my possessive ex did to me’

A brave mum-of-two domestic abuse survivor wants you to see these photos of the horrific injuries inflicted by her “possessive” former partner.

Jenna Hurley thought her two young children ‘could end up losing their mother’ as Mark Whiteside landed blow after blow on her.

Such was the brutality of the violence that Jenna’s own dad, Simon, didn’t even recognise his “little girl”.

Whiteside pleaded guilty to ABH at Preston Crown Court yesterday.

A spokesman for the CPS confirmed that Whiteside was jailed for 14 months and also given a five-year restraining order and a banning order stopping him from entering certain streets.

Jenna is now speaking out in a bid to stop any other woman becoming Whiteside’s “next target” and has given Mirror.co.uk permission to use her pictures and post to raise awareness about domestic abuse.

In the distressing images Jenna shows bruises to her eyes, her back and head.

She hopes it will encourage other victims to speak to someone if they are in a similar situation before it’s too late.

She said: “This isn’t a pity post, I already feel stronger than I have ever felt but I will not be silenced by this man another second of my life and I honestly couldn’t forgive myself if he ever did this to someone else.”

Writing on Facebook Jenna said: “This is such a hard thing to do. To publically air my “dirty laundry”. But today I sat in a court room, waiting to hear how long the father of my 1 year old child would get for ABH.

“ABH, because no bones were broken (unbelievable) he used the excuse he had too much to drink, even though there were other times and he was sober.

“He was sentenced to 21 months in prison, but due to our legal system and reductions he’s apparently “entitled” to , on good behaviour he will be out in just 6 months and this for me just isn’t good enough.

“He is the most manipulative , controlling, possesive person. And in just 6 months time he could be walking the streets looking for his next target.

And please, If you are with someone who is controlling you, making you feel scared, trying to stop you having friends or working.

“I know it’s hard but LEAVE. Take the kids, leave the material stuff. So many times I wanted to go and tell someone what was going on. But I realise now there is so much help out there.

“Tell someone. Anyone. My two children could have ended up losing their mother.”

Jenna’s dad, Simon, shared his daughter’s post and wrote in comments: “My little girl beaten but not broken.”

He wrote about the night of the attack praising his daughter’s incredible strength.

“I walked into the house on the night it happened and did not recognise my little girl, broke my heart to so her so damaged, some say justice works…. ???

“It’s not just the physical damage that should be taken into account, nights of fear, dreading if he was going to come back.. But putting all the anger and pain aside I’m so proud to have a beautiful, strong, caring, loving daughter who is an amazing mother even through these past weeks to the two most precious things in my life.. This strength she has is paramount to everything, love you Jenna Hurley xxx.”

Friends praised Jenna, from Kirkham, for her bravery.

Emma Reddy wrote: “You are a truly strong inspirational woman, your strength to over come this is inspiring and for that monster to possibly be out in 6 months is a laugh hopefully your story will spread far and wide to stop him from ever being able to have another relationship again xx

Sam Derbyshire said: “You are one brave lady, to be so open about your experience is nothing short of admirable and courageous. Massive congratulations for standing up and making him accountable for what he has inflicted on you. X

And Leanne Smith posted: “Wow Jenna, you’ve been through such an ordeal. What strength you have to get through it for your two beautiful girls, you’re a true inspiration. It’s an utter disgrace his sentence. He deserves to rot in prison. Best wishes for the future for you an your beautiful family ❤️.
