E/R: Schools reject self-Placed SHS students

There is confusion in various Senior High Schools in the Eastern region following the mass rejection of self-Placed Students.

Starr News has gathered that the Computerized School Selection and Placement Secretariat has annulled posting of Students under the Self Placement System carried out before Thursday, September 12, 2019.

The Self-placed students who arrived in their respective schools since Sunday have been asked to return to Computerized Selection and Placement Secretariat for reposting, a directive that has sparked widespread anger among parents.

Some of the stranded parents and wards who have traveled from far and near on Monday stormed the Eastern Regional Office of the CSSPS in their numbers carrying mattresses, chop box, and other educational materials bought for their children to demand placement.

“My son didn’t get school so we did Self Placement which he got Osino SHS so we went there and they gave us prospectus so we went to buy everything only to be told today when we went to the school travelling from Accra that his admission has been canceled and that there is a new list which his name is not among. Look at this car we have bought all his materials, chop box everything here”.

The situation has become worse as hundreds of Parents also seeking placement and change of schools for their wards have also stormed the Secretariat since Monday dawn creating chaotic scenes.

“We did self-placement at PENSEC but they said there was a problem with the self-placement so we should reapply but later we noticed she has been sent to Akyirensua in Ashanti region. Those in charge of the placement must be careful if their machines are not good they should change it if it is sabotage they should be careful because there is judgement, ” a parent, Evangelist Amankwa lamented.

The angry parents called on the government to ensure that the placement challenges do not mar the Free Senior High School Policy.
