COVID-19: First Lady cancels Int’l Women’s Day event

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of Ghana, has announced the cancellation of the International Women’s Day High-Level Event scheduled for Labadi Beach Hotel this evening.

This is in view of the confirmation of two cases of COVID-19 in Ghana as announced by the Health Minister on Thursday, 12 March 2020.

“The Office of the First Lady entreats all Ghanaians to take good care of themselves by strictly adhering to the following precautionary measures” announced by the Minister of Health.

Those include regular and thorough washing of hands with soap under running water and using alcohol-based hand sanitisers; avoiding handshakes, keeping a distance of two metres from anyone with a fever or cough; or anyone who is sneezing and finds it difficult to breathe.

“It is advisable to be physically active, drink plenty of water, eat healthily, avoid stress and have enough sleep.
