Bloody Widow Tag: NDC still suffering from shock of 2016 defeat – Sir John

The Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has lashed out at Minority members of Parliament for calling the newly-elected MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Alhassan a “bloody widow’.

Lydia Alhassan contested and won her late husband, Emmanuel Agyarko’s seat and was sworn into office on Tuesday.

However, following some disturbances at La Bawaleshie, one of the over 130 polling centres in the constituency, the NDC said they would not recognise the new MP.

As she was being sworn into office, the NDC MPs staged a walkout while hurling placards with the inscription, “bloody widow”.

Meanwhile, majority MPs have called on the NDC MPs to apologise.

But reacting to the conduct of the minority members, Sir John said he was not surprised about the behaviour of the NDC MPs because the party was still in shock its defeat in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections of 2016 hence cannot stand any decision taken by the NPP.

To him, the shock will remain forever in their minds.

“Seriously, I’m not shocked about the conduct of the NDC because they are in opposition and still pained over their 2016 defeat. Being in Opposition is very painful and so it is understandable but we won’t pamper them because they will forever be in shock,” he said on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Though it was sudden and unexpected, Sir John insists they (NDC) have had to accept it in good faith as according to him, ‘defeat is part of the political game.’
