Johannesburg (AFP) - South African President Jacob Zuma has ordered his finance minister to return from an overseas investment trip, the presidency said Monday, fuelling speculation that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent.

Procurement minister-designate Sarah Adwoa Safo is before the Appointments Committee of Parliament vetting the last batch of 54 nominations for ministerial posts. The lawyer who is also the Deputy Majoirty leader has justified the decison of the Akufo-Addo government to create the position of the Minister of State in charge of public procurement.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe's 93-year-old leader might be slowing down, but his busy foreign travels have led the opposition to call him the "non-resident president." President Robert Mugabe has visited Singapore, Ghana, Swaziland and Mauritius in the past three weeks alone. At times he stops over in Zimbabwe's capital, Harare, for just a night before leaving again.

The Second lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia, has said that the free Senior High School (SHS) policy will not only increase access for all but also facilitate efforts towards achieving gender parity in schools. She said the policy would allow many more underprivileged students access to education and present them with equal opportunities for life while ensuring girls were also given equal educational opportunities.

National Security operatives have swung into action to retrieve the V8 Toyota Land Cruiser in possession of popular movie actor John Dumelo. The operatives caught the actor, who was part of the failed campaign to get John Mahama elected for a second time as president, with a vehicle belonging to the state, and retrieved one of them from a spraying shop at Abelemkpe, Accra, recently.
